What Every Woman Needs to Known About Breast Cancer

Early Detection is Your Best Protection

One of the keys to the increasing breast cancer survival rate is early detection. Of women whose breast cancer is detected in its earliest stages, 96% have at least a five-year survival rate. It is so important for every woman to follow these screening guidelines:

  • Monthly breast self- examination starting at age 20
  • Women in their 20s and 30s should have a clinical breast exam as part of a regular health exam by a health professional, preferably every 3 years. After age 40, women should have a breast exam by a health professional every year.
  • Annual mammogram beginning at age 40
  • Screening Breast MRI is considered for women at increased risk for developing breast cancer based on their family history. Providers at the Center will evaluate patients’ risk and make recommendations for screening based on that risk.
