At Fletcher Allen, medical nutrition therapy is available on both an outpatient and inpatient basis.

The service is provided by registered and State certified dietitians with specialized training in the role of food and nutrition and the therapeutic management of:

  • celiac disease
  • food allergies
  • gastrointestinal disorders
  • high blood pressure
  • high blood lipids
  • kidney disease
  • malnutrition
  • obesity and weight management
  • nutrition support
  • eating disorders


Additionally, dietitians advise individuals about recommended diets for:

  • general health promotion
  • infants, children and adolescent needs
  • pregnancy and lactation
  • sports nutrition
