Plastic, Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery

Welcome to the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Cosmetic Surgery at Fletcher Allen, in affiliation with the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont.

Currently, we have four board-certified surgeons (Drs. Leitner, Laub, MacLennan, and Nesbit) whose profiles can be found on this Web site. Each of these surgeons is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery. In addition, we have a well-trained office and nursing staff to help you with your plastic surgery needs.

"Plastic Surgery" having derived its present day connotation from the Greek work "plastikos", which means to mold or to form, is a surgical sub-specialty in which surgeons do both reconstructive plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery by "molding and shaping" the human form.

Our team offers extensive services in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries including, but not limited to: breast reconstruction; facial reconstructive surgery; hand surgery; microvasuclar reconstruction; transgender reconstructive surgery; and reconstructive surgery following gastric bypass surgery for morbid obesity. In addition, we perform Congenital Reconstructive Surgery for congenital defects (e.g. cleft lip, cleft palate, and prominent ears) in conjunction with the Vermont Craniofacial and Cleft Lip Clinic which is under direction of the Vermont Children With Special Needs program.
