Interdisciplinary Treatment Programs
Work-Hardening Program
Rehabilitation Therapies offers a ½ day work-hardening program for those individuals who are functionally limited and exhibit mild to moderate psychosocial barriers to recovery. These patients are having difficulty returning to work or home tasks at their pre-injury level. The program is generally two to four weeks long, and varies according to individual needs. The length of the program is determined by the rehabilitation team in collaboration with the patient, and depends on the patient's goals, progress, and general commitment to the program.
Individuals in the program participate in 60 minutes each of physical and occupational therapy daily as well as an hour of cardiovascular training. Additionally, educational sessions are offered in the Work-Hardening Program. The pain management support group is held throughout the week. Individual sessions with the pain management counselor are scheduled as needed, and can overlap or occur outside the regular program schedule. They also participate in daily relaxation sessions and receive informational instruction as to its benefits.
Work-Conditioning Program
Work Conditioning is an individualized work-oriented program to restore the client's strength, endurance, flexibility, work capacity and confidence to return to employment. This treatment can provide the bridge between therapies immediately post-injury and return to work. Conditioning and work simulation tasks can be graded and structured to ensure safety and to help overcome any fears of re-injury. Typically work-conditioning sessions are 3 times per week with each session containing 60 minutes of Occupational Therapy and 60 minutes of Physical Therapy with the option of psychology for pain management, when indicated.
