Patients must meet certain criteria to be eligible for Fletcher Allen Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation. The requirements determine your ability to participate in the program and receive insurance coverage.
- Need to have had a complete medical work-up and be medically stable
- Require rehabilitation nursing and close medical management by a physiatrist
- Require and be capable of being an active participant in a minimum of three hours per day of occupational and physical therapy, at least five days per week
- Be likely to make significant functional improvement in a relatively short period of time (typically 10 to 20 days)

Referrals may be made by a physician, nurse, therapist, social worker, case manager or discharge planner. A Rehabilitation Admissions Coordinator will perform a pre-admission assessment including information from the patient’s medical record, discussion with the patient’s care team, and an interview with the patient and family.
