Welcome

On behalf of the Department of Family Medicine at Fletcher Allen and the University of Vermont College of Medicine, I want to personally welcome you to the Department's Web site. The mission of the Department is threefold.

To provide high quality care and service to our patients

To ensure high-quality educational programs for our residents and students

To advance the science and specialty of family medicine through investigation and query in a positive learning environment

Fletcher Allen operates six family practice sites:

  • Colchester Family Practice
  • Hinesburg Family Health
  • Milton Family Practice
  • South Burlington Family Practice
  • Berlin Family Health
  • Walk In Care Center

These sites employ more than 40 family physicians, nurse-practitioners, physician assistants and mental health professionals. We also provide department status and structure for the many family physicians in the community who have attending medical staff privileges at Fletcher Allen.

We are proud to offer a Family Medicine residency-training program -- the only such residency program in the State of Vermont. There are six residents per year in this three-year training program, and graduates have a distinguished history of service to the citizens of Vermont.

Residents complete the majority of their inpatient rotations at Fletcher Allen's main campus in Burlington and provide comprehensive, continuous health care at Milton Family Practice. Residents have primary responsibility for the health care of individuals and families and are closely supervised by on-site attending faculty.

This Web site contains current information about all aspects of the Department's functions including patient care, medical student and resident education, and our research programs. There is also information about individual faculty members and their areas of expertise.
