Center for Pain Medicine Referral Information
The Center for Pain Medicine offers comprehensive pain management services for patients suffering from a variety of painful conditions. The physicians in the Center for Pain Medicine are board-certified anesthesiologists who have received specialized training and have extensive experience in pain management.
The type of therapy recommended for each of our patients will depend on each patient’s individual diagnosis. Physicians will work closely with referring physicians to select the most effective treatment plan. Though complete pain relief is not always possible, we are, in most cases, able to decrease pain enough to allow for significant increase in activity and improvement in quality of life.

Referral Information
All patients seen in the Center for Pain Medicine require referral through a primary care or specialty health care provider. Your referral letter should include a summary of pertinent test results and previous treatments and a statement of the outcome you hope to achieve.
At the time of the first visit, a complete medical evaluation of the pain problem is conducted. A pain management physician will discuss the history and nature of the pain problem and conduct a thorough pain problem-oriented physical examination to develop an appropriate treatment plan. In special cases, patients can be referred directly for therapeutic nerve blocks such as epidural steroids.
