X-Ray Imaging

Our physicians use X-ray imaging to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. X-rays take pictures of structures inside your body using a small amount of radiation.

Your physician may order an X-ray to learn more about:

What to Expect During Your X-Ray Exam

Before your X-ray, the technologist will explain the exam to you. If you know, or believe, you are pregnant, you will need to inform the technologist before the exam. In order to get the best possible results, the technologist will give you specific instructions regarding breathing and body positioning.

Some advanced X-ray tests involve injecting or swallowing a contrast dye so that blood vessels and digestive organs show up better in X-ray pictures.

Preparing for an X-ray

Some exams may require special dietary preparations, which will be explained when they are scheduled. Please remember to carefully follow any special instructions you may have received.

A radiologist (a physician who specializes in diagnostic imaging) will review your results and send them to your referring physician.
