After a comprehensive evaluation by a physician, treatment alternatives are thoroughly discussed with each patient. Services may include:
• On-site radiology exam (x-rays)
• Casting or splinting
• Surgery
• Aspiration/Injection
• Pain management
• Therapy services
• Coordination of care with other disciplines
Our Staff
Our physician staff includes board-certified orthopedists with specialty training in evaluation and management of musculoskeletal trauma. Physicians are University of Vermont of College of Medicine faculty members and are involved in research and in the education of medical students and orthopedic surgery residents. A physical therapist is on- site to coordinate rehabilitation care and to instruct patients in home exercise programs. Nurses and support staff coordinate patient care.
Trauma Staff
An appointment with a trauma surgeon for evaluation, consultation and treatment can be arranged by the emergency department as a follow-up visit, or a referral may be made by a family physician or specialist. Patients may also call directly for an appointment. Please bring records of previous treatments and any pertinent diagnostic studies. (x-rays, CT scans, bone scans, MRI). This will assist the physician in developing a comprehensive plan of care for you.
Physical therapy services, onsite or elsewhere, may be recommended as part of the treatment plan. Please note that financial coverage for evaluation and treatment are subject to the conditions of your particular insurance policy.
