Neuromuscular Disorders Referral Information
This program includes the Vermont ALS Center sponsored by the National ALS Association, the multidisciplinary ALS Clinic, the Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic, the International Post-Polio Clinic sponsored by the International Polio Network, and the general Neuromuscular Clinic. These activities provide support for patients and their families through comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management of neuromuscular diseases. Patients are evaluated by physicians and therapists and given advice on genetic advances in diseases.
Vermont ALS Center
The multidisciplinary ALS Clinic meets twice a month at Fletcher Allen’s Fanny Allen Campus in Colchester. The mission of this clinic is to determine each patient's needs and formulate a team plan that will be shared with family, primary care physician and/or neurologist and health care professionals wherever the patient resides.
This team approach allows evaluation of patients with ALS by a team of experienced health care professionals and promotes coordination of their care through their primary care physicians and other support personnel in their local community.
