Intensive Outpatient Care

This program is appropriate for individuals who are transitioning from inpatient care back into the community, or for individuals who are experiencing worsening symptoms and want to avoid an inpatient admission. 

Conditions

Fletcher Allen's Intensive Outpatient Program treats patients with the following conditions:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety/panic disorder
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Adjustment disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Self-harming behaviors

Treatment 

The primary purpose of this program is to assist in coping skill acquisition and coping skill usage in the patients' daily life. This program offers 6 hours of treatment per day and consists of:

  • Individual care management 
  • Group psychotherapy
  • Coping skills training
  • Medication consultation

Treatment includes:

  • A full psycho-social and medical evaluation and formulating initial treatment goals
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Pharmacological management
  • Mindfulness practice
  • Anger management and emotion regulation
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and assertiveness skills
  • Distress tolerance skills
  • Relapse prevention
  • Care management and ongoing collaboration with outside providers
