Fletcher Allen, a Vermont university hospital and medical center, serves all of
Vermont and the northern New York region. Located in Burlington, Fletcher Allen is a regional, academic healthcare center and teaching hospital in alliance with the University of Vermont.
The cardiac MRI laboratory at Fletcher Allen provides a wide range of diagnostic studies for patients and a strong research commitment to advancing the field of cardiac imaging.
The laboratory is housed in the only quaternary referral center in Vermont; consequently, the patient population provides a broad spectrum of cardiovascular disease. Studies are interpreted jointly by the Department of Radiology and the Division of Cardiovascular Disease within the Department of Medicine. This allows for a rich exchange of ideas and the ability to bring complimentary skills to the interpretation of each examination.
Cardiac imaging magnet is performed with a Philips Integra 3 Tesla system and a GE 1.5 Tesla magnet. A 3 Tesla magnet and a 4.7 Tesla small bore facility dedicated to research will enable us to improve our care of patients through investigation. The laboratory is situated on the campus of the University of Vermont and clinically operated through the Fletcher Allen system.
All forms of cardiac imaging are performed including ventricular function analysis, myocardial viability determinations, myocardial perfusion imaging during vasodilator stress, structural and congenital heart disease, myocardial strain analysis, MR coronary angiography and diagnosis of infiltrative cardiomyopathies
