Orthopaedics

Fletcher Allen's Pediatric Orthopaedic Service provides care for children with musculoskeletal problems.  The service specializes in the treatment of scoliosis, bone tumors, and upper and lower extremity problems. The service also focuses on providing care for children with cerebral palsy, myelomeningocele, muscular dystrophy, and other neuromuscular disorders through the Vermont Department of Health.

Our Staff
The physician staff are board-certified orthopaedic surgeons and have additional specialty training in Pediatrics. Physicians are University of Vermont (UVM) faculty members and are involved in research and in the education of University of Vermont College of Medicine students and orthopaedic surgery residents. Nurses and support staff coordinate patient care.

Appointments
An appointment with the Pediatric Surgeon for an evaluation, consultation, or second opinion can be arranged with a referral from a family physician, another specialist such as a physiatrist, or in follow-up from an emergency department visit. Other sources of referrals include:

• Occupational Health
• Emergency department physicians
• Pediatric surgeons
• Primary care physicians 
  

To help assist the physician in developing a comprehensive plan of care for you, please bring any records or diagnostic studies such as:

• X-rays
• CT scans
• MRI
• EMG/NCS
