At the Burlington, Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen, our littlest patients need our most advanced technology. Our 20-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides family-centered care for critically ill or premature infants.

Our NICU environment supports developmental care with an emphasis on human touch. Our skilled caregivers work closely with the infant’s family to help you understand and participate in your baby’s health care needs.
Special-Needs Infants: Continuing Care
Our Neonatal Medical Follow-up Program provides a support system for families who are facing the challenges of caring for an infant with continuing medical needs. A program coordinator serves as a hospital liaison, helping you by:
- Answering any questions
- Coordinating visits to specialists at the hospital
- Guiding your transition from the NICU to home

The NICU at Vermont Children’s Hospital, in conjunction with the NICU Family Advisory Committee, which is comprised of staff and NICU graduate parents, create quarterly the NICU Family News which offers family resources, patient stories, events, news and information on children's health and more.
