Kohl's Kids Bike Smart

Kohl’s Kids Bike Smart, powered by Local Motion, is a bike skills training program that teaches kids how to ride bikes safely, with a goal of keeping kids active and injury-free.
During the school year, KKBS loans its trailer full of bikes plus all needed equipment and supplies FREE to Vermont schools that want to conduct on-bike skills trainings for students in grades K-8. In addition to the trailer, the loaner program provides teachers with a detailed curriculum guide, training and technical support, and access to low-cost helmets for kids.
In the summer, KKBS works with municipal parks and recreation departments to incorporate bike skills into summer camps, providing all needed equipment and supplies plus trainers and counselor training. Summer camps are conducted by skilled instructors, with a focus on fun, fast-paced drills that build foundational skills for confident bike riding.
Kohl’s Department Stores, through its Kohl’s Cares® program, has been a partner of Vermont Children’s Hospital (VCH) at Fletcher Allen Health Care since 2004. One element of this program is the sale of cause merchandise, including plush toys, books, CDs and cookbooks, for $5 each.
Through the sale of these items, Kohl’s donates 100 percent of the net profit to the Vermont Children’s Hospital to support injury prevention programming in the community.
To date, our Burlington Kohl’s store at the University Mall has raised $174,949 to support pediatric injury prevention programs. Consider purchasing these high-quality items for your family, friends, for donations during holidays and all year long!
