The Musculoskeletal Oncology service is involved in the diagnostic, surgical, and multidisciplinary care of patients of all ages with benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors of the extremities, pelvis, and shoulder girdle, as well as those patients with simulation of these processes.
In addition, patients with metastatic bone disease and proliferative synovial processes are evaluated and treated.
Conditions treated
We treat pediatric and adult patients for the following:
- Primary bone and soft tissue sarcoma
- Multiple myeloma
- Lymphomas of bone
- Metastatic carcinomas to bone
Pediatric patients are frequently enrolled in the current COG (Children's Oncology Group) protocols. Adult patients are treated on protocols open through the Adult Hematology/Oncology service.

Our Staff
The physician staff are board-certified orthopedic surgeons and have additional specialty training in adult and pediatric oncology. Physicians are University of Vermont College of Medicine faculty members and are involved in research, and in the education of the College of Medicine students and orthopedic surgery residents. Nurses and support staff coordinate patient care.
