Our Team Approach = Comprehensive Care
Fletcher Allen's multidisciplinary team of specialists works together to provide you with the very best care. You can see several specialists at a single place in one visit. You may see a radiation oncologist, head and neck surgeon, medical oncologist, nutritionist, speech and language specialist and cancer patient support specialist in a single visit to the clinic. This approach helps ensure that the latest treatment guidelines are followed and enhances communication between specialists involved in your care.
Putting Academic Medicine to Work for You
You can be assured that your care is based upon the latest knowledge and up-to-date medical information. Most of our doctors not only treat patients, but also serve as professors at the UVM College of Medicine and participate in a thriving cancer research program at the Vermont Cancer Center.

Procedures and Treatments
Diagnosis, Staging and Treatment
The Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic involves a team of specialists including radiation oncologists, head and neck surgeons, medical oncologists, nutritionists, speech and language specialists and cancer patient support specialists. Patient case presentations are first discussed in a treatment planning conference attended by specialists in head and neck surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology. New patients are then seen immediately following the conference.
We deliver efficient patient care through a concerted effort to complete all necessary diagnostic testing prior to your first visit. This enables us to provide you with a clear treatment plan at the conclusion of your first clinic visit.
We also offer patients the opportunity to participate in a broader array of the latest clinical trials in head and neck cancer and in symptom management.
The Clinic offers leading-edge technology in the diagnosis and staging of head and neck cancers, including:
- Multimodality treatment plans
- Chemotherapy and targeted therapy
