Gastrointestinal cancer is a family of cancers that affect part of the digestive system, which is made up of the stomach and intestines. Cancer starts in the tissues of the affected organ.  For example, pancreatic cancer forms in the tissues or cells of the pancreas, and colon cancer starts in the colon’s tissues.
