Meniscal Tear Surgery
Meniscal tears can occur during sports activities, especially contact sports if a player is twisting, cutting, pivoting, slowing down or being tackled. Sports-related meniscal tears may occur along with other knee injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament tears.
Older adults are more likely to have degenerative meniscal tears where the cartilage wears out over time.
Symptoms
If you have a meniscal tear, you may experience pain and swelling as the main symptoms. Patients also complain of a locking of the joint, limited motion and a popping or clicking within the knee.

With partial knee replacement — also known as unicompartmental knee arthroplasty — knee surgeons replace part of the knee joint, preserving healthy bones and ligaments in other areas of the knee. The procedure is less invasive than total knee replacement, using smaller incisions and resulting in a shorter recovery. It is recommended for patients whose arthritis is confined to a specific area of the joint.
Total Knee Replacement
If non-surgical methods and other types orthopedic surgery are not successful, your doctor may recommend total knee replacement. Total knee replacement surgery involves removing diseased bone and tissue and implanting a complete, artificial knee joint.
