Fletcher Allen is Committed to Sustainable Nutrition
At Fletcher Allen, we’re aiming to have the most sustainable hospital food service in the nation. Last year, our Nutrition Services group served over two million meals—making us the largest restaurant in the state of Vermont. We take our responsibility for the food we serve, and where it comes from, very seriously. Simply put, food matters to Fletcher Allen, our patients and the community.
We understand that nutrition and food systems are inextricably linked to the health of our patients and our community. This is reflected in our commitment to serving fresh, locally produced, minimally processed foods, and to partnering with more than 70 farmers and producers throughout the region to supply healthier food to our patients and customers, while boosting the local economy.
Our local partnerships also help us reduce transportation distances, significantly decreasing our environmental footprint. Many of our partners provide organic ingredients and products, and over half of the food we serve each year come from local or sustainable resources.
