Glucagon emergency kit
A glucagon emergency kit has a syringe that contains liquid
(diluent), and a bottle that contains the medicine
glucagon.
Remove the bottle seal: Step 1
Remove the seal from the top of the bottle. Don't touch the
rubber part that is at the center of the bottle
top.
Remove the needle cover: Step 2
Take the cover off the needle of the
syringe.
Remove the plunger lock: Step 3
Remove the plunger lock, the plastic clip that keeps the
plunger in place.
Insert the needle: Step 4
Insert the needle of the syringe into the bottle that contains
the medicine.
Push the plunger: Step 5
Push the plunger of the syringe to force the diluent from the
syringe into the bottle.
Remove the needle: Step 6
Remove the syringe needle from the bottle. Then put the cover
back on the needle.
Mix the contents: Step 7
Turn the bottle back and forth to mix the
contents.
Reinsert the needle and draw out the medicine: Step 8
Insert the needle of the syringe into the bottle again, then
turn the bottle upside down and pull back on the plunger to draw the dose of
glucagon into the syringe.
