Dr. Lois Jovanovic reviews medical content for Healthwise, a
nonprofit organization with a mission to help people make better health
decisions. Dr. Jovanovic is an internist specializing in endocrinology and
metabolism. She became CEO and Chief Scientific Officer of the Sansum Diabetes
Research Institute in Santa Barbara, California, in 1996. She is a Clinical
Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology at the University of
Southern California-Keck School of Medicine and is an Adjunct Professor of
Biomolecular Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Santa
