Good medicine and good business are not mutually exclusive. In fact, knowing how to operate a clinical practice or delivery system efficiently and strategically can improve patient care. This philosophy drives the work of Fletcher Allen’s Center for Health Care Management.
Our Mini-MBA program educates providers and administrators in sound business principles and management techniques, that directly affect operational performance and the bottom line. Knowledge generated by our research activities supplements our curriculum, exposing participants to new approaches for delivering healthcare. The onsite program allows you to network with your peers, building partnerships and strengthening relationships throughout communities in Vermont and upstate New York.
Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:
- Evaluate new care delivery models and understand how they may affect your organization.
- Sustain competitive advantage by applying management best practices to healthcare delivery.
- Adopt and implement innovations to achieve organizational excellence and improve financial outcomes.
- Manage limited resources more effectively through an increased understanding of prioritizing within clearly defined constraints.
The Center’s Education Programs, in partnership with the University of Vermont’s Business School, are eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits or credit at Fletcher Allen’s Leadership Institute. Average evaluation ratings are above 94% in all critical areas and 92% of participants said they would recommend the program. Of physicians who completed the course 80% said they applied materials and frameworks to their positions.
The Core Program

The program has been designed to provide knowledge and skills that have an immediate impact on the delivery of health care.
