NORMAL AGE-RELATED COGNITIVE DECLINE VERSUS MILD COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT: WHERE AM I HEADED?

William Pendlebury, MD, Fletcher Allen Health Care

Some degree of memory loss is a normal part of the aging process. Mild cognitive impairment, on the other hand, is associated with one or more abnormalities on neuropsychologic testing, and may represent the earliest stage of Alzheimer’s disease. This presentation will contrast and compare the two conditions, and suggest lifetime strategies to reduce the risk of mild cognitive impairment and minimize impacts that memory loss may have on daily functioning.
