As an integral member of the community with a vested interest in its people, Fletcher Allen has committed itself to extending the benefits of academic medicine to the people of our region.  We live up to this commitment in a variety of ways, including:   

Sharing knowledge

Our leading-edge medical professionals regularly offer free community education classes, hold informational sessions for students and provide physicians in our surrounding rural communities with the support they need to provide the best care possible.

Responsible and responsive

We conduct regular assessments to determine community and health care needs, and organizes countless initiatives from smoking cessation programs to working with area businesses on employer health initiatives.

Community collaboration

Fletcher Allen partners with a number of community-based groups, such as the United Way, the Visiting Nurse Association, the HowardCenter and the Community Health Center to help address the needs of the community.

And we would not be Fletcher Allen if it were not for the generous contributions of our volunteers, donors and community members who support the organization. The contributions of these individuals are equally as important in caring for patients as the direct patient care provided by our physicians, nurses and staff.

Community Health Improvement at Fletcher Allen

Many of the community outreach activities mentioned here are coordinated by Fletcher Allen's Community Health Improvement Office.  Fletcher Allen is able to serve a variety of populations and age groups. We partner with other non-profits, businesses, community leaders and governmental agencies to offer a multitude of programs and educational offerings and support other health-based non-profits.
