BURLINGTON, VT - Thomas Lahiri, M.D., medical director of Pediatric Pulmonology at Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen and Associate Professor at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, has been selected to receive the D. Robert McCaffree Humanitarian Award from the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) and the CHEST Foundation.
The award comes with a $15,000 grant which will be used by the Burlington-based Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation for a documentary project called “Living Extreme with Cystic Fibrosis.” The Foundation will produce short and long-form videos that capture the stories of people who live successfully with cystic fibrosis and push the limits of what was once thought to be possible.
“The primary target of the videos will be patients, families and care providers, but they can also be used to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for people with other respiratory diseases and the general public,” said Dr. Lahiri. The award will be presented in October at the ACCP annual meeting.
