Tenth Anniversary Motorcycle Benefit Ride to Include a Route Through Burlington

BURLINGTON VT – The tenth anniversary Jeff Wyand Miracle Ride, a benefit event to raise money for children’s cancer care at the Vermont Children’s Hospital at Fletcher Allen, will include a portion of Burlington, including the Church Street Marketplace, on its route this year.  Approximately 600 motorcyclists from Vermont and New York are expected to participate in the ride on August 15.

Jeff Wyand, a Plattsburg resident, developed medulloblastoma, a malignant tumor affecting the central nervous system at age 10.  He died in December 2006, when the disease returned soon after his high school graduation that June. Through the efforts of his parents Tom and Diane Wyand, and many others, the event has enjoyed great success.

The event has raised almost $377,000 over the past 9 years.  Organizers are hoping to raise an additional $50,000 this year.  All of the money goes towards clinical care and support of childhood cancer patients at the Vermont Children’s Hospital.

New York riders will gather at American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh and North End Harley in Plattsburgh on the 15th between 8am and 9:30am.Vermont riders will gather at the Medical Center Campus of Fletcher Allen between 9am and 11:30am where all riders will take off at 11:30am. If you wish to participate, please call 802-847-1010 or register online at www.jeffwyandride.org. Registration fees start at $35.

Non-riders can participate by making a donation online at www.jeffwyandride.org  or by calling (802-847-1010), and by watching the motorcycles ride down Burlington’s Main Street, Church Street, Colchester’s Lakeshore Drive and Blakely Road to US.
