BURLINGTON VT – This year’s UHC Quality and Accountability Study results placed Fletcher Allen 14th among 101 member academic medical centers across the country in quality of care and patient safety. Over the past three years, Fletcher Allen has moved from 41st in 2009 to 33rd in 2010, to 14th in this year’s study.
“This is a significant trend that we should celebrate,” said John Brumsted, Fletcher Allen’s interim president and chief executive officer. “This achievement was made possible by all our staff working together to put our patients first. While everyone has a role in making this happen, a special thanks to our clinicians, our nurses, our Environmental Services staff, our Health Information Management (medical records) staff, and our Jeffords Institute for Quality staff. These results demonstrate that Fletcher Allen continues to perform extremely well among our peer academic medical centers.”
UHC, formerly known as the University HealthSystem Consortium, is an alliance of the nation’s leading nonprofit academic medical centers. The results of the study, which UHC has conducted annually since 2005, were released in late September.
