National Quality Measures
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has established quality measures that are presented through its National Quality Measures Clearinghouse™ (NQMC).
The NQMC is the public repository for evidence-based quality measures and measure sets. More information about this national measures clearing house may be obtained at: http://www.qualitymeasures.ahrq.gov/
These quality measures address a variety of patient populations and are considered as indicators of good patient care processes. To learn more about AHRQ measures, go to: http://www.ahrq.gov/
The objectives of the AHRQ Quality Indicators are to provide a tool to:
- Highlight potential quality concerns
- Identify areas that need further study and investigation
- Track changes over time
- Facilitate transparency through comparative information about the quality of healthcare
- Facilitate decision-making
- Maximize existing resources
