Help Make the Mother-Baby Project a Reality
There's a brief and important period in the life of parents and their newborn, when they connect for the first time, all huddled together in the same room. Just them. That's when families are born. And that's why it's so important to build.
New families deserve the same experience in their rooms as they encounter in the birthing center. For years, Fletcher Allen has given expectant mothers a memorable birth experience in a modern birthing facility. But the current mother-baby unit is 50 years old. It's two floors away from the birth unit. And far too often, new moms have to share a room and lack access to a private bathroom.
With your help, the new Mother-Baby Project will feature 28 patient beds in 25 patient rooms, reducing the rate of double occupancy to just one percent. Each room will have its own adjoining bathroom. Babies and Moms will no longer have to leave the room for minor procedures. And "boarder" rooms will be included for families whose babies need to remain in the hospital after Mom has been discharged.
To make the Mother-Baby Project a reality, we need to raise $3 million. Your generosity will literally improve the wellbeing of some 2,000 families each year.
