Optimal Health: Overcoming the Affects of Chronic Medical Treatment

Presentation on Thursday, September 25 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at the SurvivorshipNOW Wellness Center in Williston.

Come and learn how to build your body during and after cancer treatment or other serious medical conditions, such as Lyme disease. Dr. Merrily Kuhn will discuss how probiotics, "super" foods, anti-oxidants and supplements can help rebuild your body, as antibiotics, chemo and other treatments deplete your body. North Porch of the Inn At Shelburne Farms

Free Event to Survivors and their Caregivers. Come for some healthy and local hors d'oeuvres with produce from Shelburne Farms and enjoy some lemonade or ice tea with other cancer survivors, caregivers and/or their supporters. This is an opportunity to meet others in a beautiful setting, to celebrate being together and to share our experiences. This event was made possible through the Eleanor B. Daniels Fund, VTAAC (Vermonters Taking Action Against Cancer), PT360 and the Vermont Cancer Center.

  • Event will include a 40 minute visual overview of select paintings by Eleanor B. Daniels with narration by Sherry Daniels, sister of artist.
  • Price: $30/per person donation, as a benefit for the Eleanor B. Daniels Fund, will include a glass of wine.
  • Everyone will be entered to win a night in the Embassy Suites/Montreal (value $300).
  • Snow Farm Vineyard is generously donating 20% of all sales at this event to the EBD Fund.
  • Pizza Papillo will be onsite and showcasing their popular 10" vegetarian & meat gourmet pies, cooked to order, and making a donation to the EBD Fund from the evening's sales.

We are participating in Chittenden Cty Relay for Life in Essex as the Eleanor B. Daniels Fund team. Look for us at the event. PT360 will be giving free chair and table massages for survivors and their caregivers from 7 to 10 p.m. To donate to our team simply follow the directions on the event donation page. Shannon Miller - Competing with Cancer: an evening with an Olympic Champion & Cancer Survivor

Shannon is an advocate for women's health and fitness, an author, a motivational speaker, a television/radio host and a champion of childhood obesity. She was diagnosed in 2011 with ovarian cancer and has written a number of health/wellness related books. In the summer of 2012, Shannon was on the air with reports from the London 2012 Olympics. Shannon shared her experiences with as a competitor, commentator, and cancer survivor.

Relay For Life

The Eleanor B. Daniels Fund had a booth and supported the 2011 American Cancer Society's Relay for life, June 22, 2011 at the Champlain Valley Exposition. We helped to raise funds to support the ACS as well as to honor and support all women who are affected by gynecologic cancers. PT360 of Williston, Vermont, offered free chair massages to survivors and caregivers in our booth for the second year and they were a big hit!

We encourage all survivors and their caregivers to join us again next year at this event. Together, we can help to find a cure!

Survivorship Health Fair

Survivors were invited to PT360 for a program that included trying water aerobics in the PT360 salt water pool, chair massage and a Yoga Class. Also, Nancy Brennan, author and survivor, led a discussion about exercise and survivorship. Nancy is the author of Action Against Cancer.

Cancer Survivorship - Living Well Beyond Cancer

Deb Harris offered an overview of post-treatment potential medical issues – fatigue, joint pain, impaired sensations and more - and how a pro-active approach to Physical Therapy is part of the new survivorship frontier. Attendees learned what services are available and what one might need to improve health after cancer treatments.

This was a free program for Patients, Survivors, Family and Medical Staff at The Carpenter Auditorium / Given Medical Building.
