Our Services

The Spine Institute of New England (SpINE) established in 1989, is a center for evaluation, consulation, diagnosis and treatment of adolescents and adults with spinal disorders.  With its commitment to healing, education and research, the Spine Institute is a unique resource for people with spinal disorders in New England and Northern New York.

Our Staff members have extensive experience in the treatment of spinal disorders, including:

  • Back and neck pain (acute, subacute, chronic)
  • Disc problems
  • Degenerative conditions
  • Spinal arthritis
  • Scoliosis, kyphosis
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Trauma, fractures
  • Tumors

 

After a comprehensive evaluation, treatment alternatives are thoroughly discussed with each patient.  Treatment options include:

  • Pain management
  • Spine surgery
  • Intensive functional restoration
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Psychological counseling
  • Epidural Injections
  • Education
  • Braces and orthoses

Our Staff

All staff specialize in the care of patients with spinal disorders. The physician staff includes specialists in spine surgery, internal medicine, and occupational health and physiatry.  They are board certified in their specialty.  The physicians are University of Vermont (UVM) faculty members and are involved in research and in the education of UVM College of Medicine students and orthopaedic residents.  The Nurses and support staff coordinate patient care.

Appointments

  • An appointment with a physician for evaluation, consultation, or second opinion may be arranged by referral only. 
  • Please bring records of previous treatment and any pertinent diagnostic studies (x-rays, CT scans, MRI)
  • An appointment for psychological evaluation or treatment can be made with or without a referral.  Approval for mental health treatment is not arranged through your primary care physician, but through your insurance company.  The phone number for mental health authorization can be found on your insurance card. 
  • Physical and occupational therapy appointments are generally made after evaluation by a physician. 
  • Please note that financial coverage for evaluation and treatment are subject to the conditions of your particular insurance policy.

FROM THE RUTLAND AREA:  Follow route 7 north to I-89.  Turn right unto I-89. 

Take I-89 to Dorset St Exit (towards airport) Merge onto Kennedy Drive

Turn right on Hinesburg Rd/VT 116 go approximately .7 miles

Take 3rd left on to Tilley Drive (last building on right)

 

FROM ST. ALBANS AND POINTS NORTH. 

Take interstate 89 South to Exit 14E for US-2E

Towards South Burlington Merge onto Williston Rd

Turn right at Hinesburg Rd/VT-116 go approximately 1.3 miles

Take 3rd left on to Tilley Drive (last building on right)

 

FROM MONTPELIER/WHITE RIVER JUNCTION AREA: 

Take interstate 89 North to Exit 14E

Towards South Burlington Merge onto Williston Rd

Turn right at Hinesburg Rd/VT-116 go approximately 1.3 miles

Take 3rd left on to Tilley Drive (last building on right)

FROM PLATTSBURGH/MASSENA/MALONE AREAS: 

Take Cumberland Head/Grand Isle Ferry.

Follow Route 314 to Route 2 East to Interstate 89 south. 

Take 89 South to Exit  14E for US-2E Towards South Burlington Merge onto Williston Rd

Turn right at Hinesburg Rd/VT-116 go approximately 1.3 miles

Take 3rd left on to Tilley Drive (last building on right)
