Biography:

An expert in cardiac catheterization and percutaneous cardiovascular revascularization techniques, Dr. Dauerman has a broad background in clinical medicine, research, teaching and hospital administration. In addition to his work as a principal investigator on many trials testing the efficacy of diverse invasive cardiology techniques, he has lectured and published widely on invasive cardiology treatment including coronary stenting, acute myocardial infarction and cardiogenic shock. While at the University of Massachusetts, he directed the Interventional Cardiology program and focused on improving quality and timeliness of patient care. These efforts continue in his current position as Director, Cardiovascular Catheterization Laboratories at Fletcher Allen Health Care. A native of the New York area, Dr. Dauerman lives in Shelburne with his wife, who is also a physician, and their two young daughters.

Major Research Interests:

Dr. Dauerman has used both investigator initiated and multi-center registry studies to elucidate optimal interventional cardiology treatment options for high risk patients ,such as those with in-stent restenosis, coronary bifurcation lesions, ST elevation myocardial infarction, and cardiogenic shock. A recent research focus is the identification of cardiac risk after coronary intervention by assessing systemic markers of inflammation.  These results will lead to trials designed to determine the impact of anti-inflammatory treatment on outcomes after coronary intervention.
