Milton Family Medicine, located 14 miles north of Burlington in Milton, Vermont, is the resident Family Health Center. The practice was established in 1973 and has grown to well over 2,000 patient visits per month. Residents and faculty working here provide a broad range of services, including obstetrics and home visits.

We moved to our new Family Health Center in 1997. The 11,500 square foot building has 16 examining rooms, two treatment rooms, a patient counseling room, a small group therapy conference room, and onsite radiography. The Center has a desk carrel for each of our 18 residents and a separate reference library room. The state-of-the-art building will accommodate the growth in the residency, faculty, and patient volume.

The Center has an emergency/procedure room equipped with a colposcope, video sigmoidoscope, video nasolaryngoscope, x-ray lab, and surgitron. Computer capabilities at the Family Health Center include computerized medical records, and online access to hospital patient care data, pharmacologic databases, and medical literature search.

The residents and faculty practices are divided into two teams. These teams meet monthly and plan activities such as community projects, research, and practice management. You will work closely with experienced, board-certified family physicians at the Center. These faculty members are available for consultation during your practice hours. They will offer you expert guidance as you care for patients with a comprehensive range of health concerns. Milton Family Medicine reflects the type of group practice that many residents choose after completing their residency. Emphasis is placed on accurate problem-oriented records to enhance communication, appropriate use of nursing and counseling professionals, and responsibility to be involved in the organization and administration of the practice.

A second practice site, Colchester Family Medicine, is located approximately 4 miles northwest of Burlington in Colchester, Vermont. Several faculty members practice there, and students train there as well. South Burlington Family Medicine, a third faculty site, opened in December, 1997.
