The Fletcher Allen Health Care Emergency Department is currently undertaking a number of clinical research projects. These include studies conducted jointly with other departments and independent research by the attending staff. Often, medical students are involved in the projects to give them exposure to medical research. Publications have included the Journal of Trauma, Annals of Emergency Medicine, and The American Journal of Emergency Medicine. Some recent projects include the use of telemetry on patients going from the ED to radiology and the injury types associated with nail-guns. The Emergency Department has also participated in some of the large cardiac thrombolytic trials such as TIMI in cooperation with cardiology. |
