Diabetes Support Group

Diabetes support groups are designed to provide children and adolescents with opportunities to meet with other young people, learn that they are not alone, develop effective coping skills, and share strategies for meeting challenges posed by diabetes. Stress management, communication skills, conflict resolution, and anticipatory problem solving will be addressed within the context of social and guest led activities. Two groups will be offered to accommodate the younger children (ages 5-11) and adolescents (ages 12-18). Concurrent parent groups will be offered for each group. Groups will be held bi-weekly on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7 PM, alternating weekly between the adolescent and child group. The adolescent group will begin October 18. The children's group will begin November 1. Our first meeting will be on Patrick 4, room 406. Groups will be held free of charge. If you would like to enroll your child or yourself in a group, please indicate your interest by contacting Rebecca Currier, Ph.D. at www.kidswithdiabetes@vtmednet.org.
