Vermont Children's Hospital is the result of a very special partnership among Fletcher Allen Health Care, the University of Vermont College of Medicine and the people of Vermont and northern New York.
All of these partners are committed to providing area families with the highest-quality care possible in a child-friendly, family-centered medical facility, which is also part of an effective and integrated health care system.
In the pages that follow, we outline the wide-range of children's health care services that define the four missions of Vermont Children's: Patient Care, Education, Research and Child Advocacy. These missions call for our services to reach far beyond the campuses of Fletcher Allen and into the communities we serve. Our focus is always fixed on children and their families - and in doing so - the future of our community.
Sincerely,
Lewis R. First, M.D. Chief of Pediatrics Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care
Mission
Behind every child stands a family. At Vermont Children's Hospital, we believe that to truly care for that child, you must also care for the family.
Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care places the well-being of our community's children first. Our hospital within a hospital combines advanced techniques in pediatric care with a family-centered approach to redefine how children's care is delivered. In this model, parents are not just involved in the process, but are encouraged to take a lead role in shaping the care their child receives.
The high-quality care at Vermont Children's has received national recognition, including being named one of the country's top 20 Children's Hospitals (1). While the acclaim is truly gratifying, our greatest satisfaction comes in the form of the letters, phone calls and, most importantly, the smiles we receive from our patients and families in Vermont and northern New York.
